Games Schedule? + Grand Opening Event
Hello, game mods! We now have all the games assigned to people, so I'm going to start working on a schedule for games. Are there any days that you'd prefer to post your games on, or any days you absolutely can't? I want to get an even spread of games going throughout the week. I'll get everything laid out on a Google Sheets doc and link it in the Games entry once it's done, so everything's in one place.
ALSO, our official Grand Opening is going to be on February 14th! Since it's Valentine's Day and my birthday month, I want the Grand Opening event to have an overarching theme of gifts, both giving gifts to other players and getting gifts from the TCG. Day 1's going to be the card release and grand opening deck activity, and day 2 is going to be a "Give X number of choice cards to other players" kind of deal.
There'll be a week of Grand Opening event posts, but all grand opening activities will last until the end of the month. If you have any ideas/anything you'd like to run, I would appreciate the input! Otherwise, I realize this is kind of last-minute so I'm prepared to run as much as possible.

hmmm for events...maybe a game that encourages trading? like we give a series of words (types of candy because of valentine's day? just general gaming words?) and players have to trade cards to spell out the word. prizes change depending on the length of the word(s) they spell, and if they spell all the words they can get a special "grand" prize?
also how about a general freebie-type game where there's x number of mystery gifts with something different in each box and the players pick one.

both of those sound great too, and would work pretty nicely with the valentine's theme! encouraging trades is good too, since then we'll get people filling out their EXP bars too.

seconding a mystery gift game for the opening event!

yeah, i really like that idea! we could make them like, boxes of chocolates so that it fits the valentine's theme.

i think the chocolate box idea is really cute! i can totally run that.

all of the game ideas sound really fun! i wish i could give more input but i'm half asleep right now and just checking everything before i crash for the next twelve hours /o\
also can i get an invite to the mod comm please haha

it says i sent one to you 3 days ago, but i tried to resend it. it didn't give me confirmation one way or another, so if you don't get another invite check back in your inbox!

anyways I'm free whenever. I should have responded to this earlier but in my head I was like "I'm free whenever so it doesn't matter", but also you're not a mind reader so. womp.
as for games ummm... what about some kind of story game? I like those, though I don't know if other people do as much laughs. You know, the kind where you start with a sentence and then the next person writes the next sentence?

A STORY GAME SOUNDS FUN, it sounds like the kind of silly, lighthearted game that works for a prejoin event! i'll throw it up on the schedule. would you like to run it?

I love story games because they can get really crazy and weird really fast, and it's the sort of creativity that I really love. And sure! Why not. I've never ran one before (actually I've never ran any games before woops) but it shouldn't be too complicated. I dunno how many cards I should give out per line though. 2?
edit: oh and... would I be able to play in it as well?

two cards per play sounds good! and of course limit the number of plays so there's not someone raking in a million cards from one game if they're super ambitious. i find that 5 plays max is pretty reasonable, and requiring people to wait until two others have commented before commenting again helps ensure that one person isn't just knocking out all their comments at once. ALSO MORE SHENANIGANS IF YOU HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE BIT BETWEEN COMMENTS, A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN TWO SENTENCES.
and sure! it's not a knowledge-based game or anything, so it's fine if you play too.

yesssssss, I'm glad cause I want to play.

i tend to stick to giving out regular cards for the most part, and just throwing special cards in with larger prize outputs. i tried giving them out randomly, but it was a lot more effort and dice rolling than was worth it.
